A non-runner is any car that can’t drive itself onto a truck. It might be a project car that’s been under a cover for years, a car bought at auction that won’t start, a car whose keys have been lost, or one left on a driveway after a family member has passed away. We collect them all, carefully, and take them wherever they need to go.
Cars we collect
- Cars that won’t start, whether it’s a dead engine, a failed fuel pump or something you haven’t diagnosed yet
- Cars that have stood for months or years, with seized brakes, flat tyres and a battery that died long ago
- Cars with no keys, or with keys that no longer work, where the steering lock may be on
- Failed MOTs heading for a garage or a buyer
- Auction and online purchases, sold as non-runners, from the auction site or the seller’s address
- Cars from a deceased relative’s home, where we’ll work at your pace and with whoever is handling the estate
How we load a car that won’t roll
Our trucks carry a winch strong enough to pull a car up the bed with its brakes binding. Where a wheel won’t turn at all, because the brake has seized, the tyre is off the rim or the steering is locked, we lift it onto a skate, a small wheeled dolly that lets the car roll as if the wheel were free. Between the two, there are very few cars we can’t load.
Tell us when you call:
- Whether the wheels turn, and whether the steering moves
- Whether the tyres hold air
- Whether there are keys, and whether the handbrake is on
- How much room there is around the car: a garage, a narrow driveway, a gravel drive
Paperwork
Before we load any car, we check that you own it or have the owner’s permission to move it. It protects you as much as us: it’s how we make sure we’re never used to take someone else’s car. A V5C logbook with matching photo ID is the simplest proof.
Where it goes
To your garage, a specialist, a buyer, a new home or a storage unit, anywhere in London or mainland Britain. For a move you can plan ahead, see car transport.
